This website is the online center for public information and involvement for the Northern Pass Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
What's New DOE Selects Contractor Team for EIS The construction, operation, maintenance and connection of facilities at the international border of the United States for the transmission of electric energy between the United States and a foreign country is prohibited in the absence of a Presidential permit issued pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 10485, as amended by E.O. 12038. Northern Pass Transmission LLC (Northern Pass) has applied to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for a Presidential permit to construct, operate, maintain, and connect an electric transmission line across the United States border with Canada. Northern Pass is jointly owned by NU Transmission Ventures, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Northeast Utilities, a publicly held public utility holding company, and NSTAR Transmission Ventures, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of NSTAR, a publicly held public utility holding company. This website for the Northern Pass Transmission Project Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) will serve as a repository for all National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)-related public documents and will be the central location for EIS Project announcements. Individuals may subscribe to the mail list in order to receive future announcements and news releases. Public Comments related to the Scoping Process, the Draft EIS and the Final EIS can be made through this website HERE. DOE Selects Contractor Team for EIS The Department of Energy (DOE) has selected an integrated team of professionals from three environmental consulting firms to prepare the DOE Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) addressing the Northern Pass Presidential Permit application. This integrated team is composed of SE Group www.segroup.com , Ecology & Environment www.ene.com, and Lucinda Low Swartz www.lucindalowswartz.com. A description of the Northern Pass NEPA contractor team is now posted HERE, along with the Memorandum of Understanding and disclosure statements concerning preparation of the EIS. |
